Lecture SeriesThe Education Central Europe Lecture Series™ is the centerpiece of all of our programs. We use our years of experience in the Czech Republic, and our formidable network of contacts in the spheres of politics, government, civil society, business, and academia to bring our students into contact with genuine leaders of Czech and European society. Our Summer Lecture Series™, currently offered as East-Central Europe in Transition, and The Jewish Experience in Central Europe, is the focal point of the summer program study experience. In addition to taking a selection of complimentary courses designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the program topic, students participate in a weekly lecture provided by a speaker with a distuinguished background in that topic. Our Spring Lecture Series Seminar™ is a shorter, more intensive discussion of one particular topc or theme. Current Spring Seminars include the Spring Break Seminar in Prague: Politics and Community Affairs in the New Europe Seminar, and new for 2007, Spring Break in Prague: Architectural Preservation and Development in a Modern Medieval City--Guideposts for Policy & Planning. Past speakers in our Lecture Series have included the first Foreign Minister of Czechoslovakia, members of the European Parliament, staff from the European Commission, U.S. Embassy staff, representatives from Czech political parties, former political prisoners, leading figures from the Czech print media and former dissident press, and cultural figures such as award winning author Ivan Klima.
