Welcome
Education Central Europe offers university students a unique and challenging program that is unmatched in Prague today. Our blend of academically demanding coursework, cultural activities, and close contact with the people at the leading edge of Czech and European politics and culture makes our programs much more than just a semester abroad. Many of our students have formed long-lasting friendships with their fellow program participants and with Czech students and teachers. Many have returned to continue their studies in Prague, or to participate in follow-up programs. No matter which of our programs you choose, the experience you have in this amazing city will change your life forever.
Nestled in the heart of “Old Europe”, Prague has been home to Mozart, Beethoven, Kafka, and the Golem. Once the seat of the Holy Roman Empire, Prague recently completed its difficult journey back to the cultural, economic, and political heart of Europe when the Czech Republic became one of the newest members of the European Union in May of 2004. After 300 years of domination by the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and a further fifty years under the boot of Soviet Communism, the Czech lands are poised on the brink of an astounding rebirth.
After the Velvet Revolution of 1989, led by playwright-President Vaclav Havel the Czechs established a modern parliamentary democracy, and set upon a firm course of re-integration into the mainstream of western culture. Its history rich with diverse cultural and political influences, the Czech nation, and especially its multi-spired capital, is a fascinating work in progress. Extraordinary opportunities abound for the student living and studying here.
Expand your horizons with this wonderful opportunity to live and learn with Education Central Europe.
